One Ward. One Vision. One Future.

Nkosiyazi Mncunzwa, independent candidate for Ward 5A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO LEADERSHIP.

01 / The person behind the campaign

A builder.
A community voice.
A practical leader.

“For me, leadership has never started with holding political office. It has always been about seeing a problem, getting involved and doing what I can to help find a solution.”

I am Nkosiyazi Mncunzwa, a designer, builder, contractor and community advocate. Leadership means seeing a problem, getting involved and helping to find a solution.

I am standing as an independent candidate for Ward 5 because I believe a representative’s first responsibility is to the people of the ward.

Read my story

My involvement in community matters goes back many years. My advocacy for the Chutu family began years before I considered standing for political office. Through continued engagement with government and relevant officials, the family’s need for adequate housing was pursued until an RDP house was eventually built in Gwaba Village. The intervention also extended to three other families in Kwelera, KuGompo City, who ultimately received houses.

Through construction, design and contracting, I have worked on projects where progress must be planned, costed and built. I want to bring that practical approach to public representation.

I ask residents to look at where I have come from, what I have already tried to do for others, and what we can accomplish together.

02 / What matters to our communities

Why vote
Nkosiyazi?

Six priorities from my plan for Ward 5.
Grounded in the things that shape our daily lives.

01

Water for all

Work towards reliable, clean water for every household, starting with urgent community needs.

02

Better roads

Prioritise maintenance and safer access routes that connect people to schools, work and services.

03

Education & youth

Support skills, learning and fair access to opportunities for our young people.

04

Jobs & local economy

Back local businesses, farmers, cooperatives and SMMEs to help grow our economy.

05

Connectivity

Engage providers on affordable internet access for education, work and opportunity.

06

Accountable leadership

Listen, follow up and report back, with clear updates on what is moving and what remains outstanding.

03 / Action from day one

The first
100 days.

If elected: my first 100 days in office.

100 days will not fix everything.
But 100 days is enough to show how I intend to lead.

Visible.
Accessible.
Accountable.
01Ward 5 Community Service Desk

Establish a direct channel where residents can report water, roads, electricity, sanitation and other service-delivery problems. Every reported issue should be recorded and followed up.

02Community Needs Register

Visit and engage communities across Ward 5 to document their most urgent needs. Use this evidence-based priority list when engaging Matatiele Local Municipality and other government departments.

03Water — start with Mnceba

Begin mobilising support towards a practical water intervention for Mnceba Village, while formally escalating the community’s long-standing water needs to the responsible authorities.

04Roads assessment & priority list

Identify the worst roads and access routes across Ward 5, document their condition and submit a ranked priority programme for grading, maintenance and rehabilitation.

05Youth, skills & opportunities register

Create a voluntary database of unemployed young people, artisans, graduates, job seekers and local skills so opportunities reaching the ward can be communicated more fairly and openly.

06Local business & SMME register

Identify local builders, farmers, tradespeople, cooperatives and small businesses. Advocate for fair access to municipal and development opportunities.

07Mzongwana–Makhoba economic initiative

Begin stakeholder engagement around the proposed Mzongwana–Makhoba Shopping Centre and other opportunities that could bring services, investment and jobs closer to residents.

08Ward 5 Connectivity Initiative

Engage telecommunications and connectivity providers about practical options for improving affordable internet access in underserved communities.

09Regular community meetings

Introduce a programme of open community engagements so residents do not only see their councillor during elections.

10The first Ward 5 progress report

At the end of the first 100 days, publish what has been reported, submitted, escalated, approved, started and completed.

04 / Beyond election day

You deserve to know
where things stand.

My plan includes regular community meetings, WhatsApp updates and a public progress tracker. Each commitment should have a clear status.

  1. Promised
  2. Submitted
  3. Approved
  4. In progress
  5. Delivered

A proposed reporting framework from my plan. Project updates will be published as work progresses.

Explore the longer-term vision

Sustained work for water, roads, education, youth development, connectivity and support for local businesses, alongside consistent representation of Ward 5 priorities in municipal planning and budgeting.

My plan also includes stakeholder engagement around the proposed Mzongwana–Makhoba Shopping Centre, with the aim of bringing investment, services and opportunities for local traders closer to residents.

Where progress depends on a municipality, another government department or funding, updates should identify who is responsible, what has been requested, what is outstanding and what happens next.
